Stage Set, Royal Opera House, London WC2

In 1990 Andrew Wells was responsible from concept to completion for the set design of the production of Wagner’s opera ‘Die Meistersinger’. The set had to be positioned and erected within a two and a half minute musical interlude. This required the set to be moveable and demountable as well as capable of holding 140 opera singers. The set was constructed of plywood, canvas and fabricated steel junctions.
