Airpoint, Bristol

Extension and refurbishment of the existing print and mail factory building into a residential development of 255 homes, including a roof-top running track. The proposal looks at the retention of the majority of the structure of the existing building with the addition of two new lightweight storeys. Due to the residential function not conforming to the heights of the existing windows, a new facade was proposed which enabled the building to be re-imaged.

Airpoint is the UK’s first residential building with its own private rooftop 'SkyPark' featuring a 220 metre running track, trim trail, roof garden and communual amenity rooms. A key objective of the development was to create apartment buildings that function as a community. Situated in Bedminster on top of a hill, Airpoint has panoramic views of the city. It has helped kick-start regeneration in this area.
